Products Overview

Wheels and castors are mechanical devices, generally applied to equipment and carriages, which must comply with handling requirements involved in production processes. Usually handled manually, they are used at a speed of less than 4 km/h, with non-continuous duty.

For top performance, correct fitting and use of the wheel and castor are particularly important, following such rules as:

  • The wheel and castor must be fitted to the equipment using appropriate, correctly tightened bolts and nuts.
  • When connecting the swivel castor stem, be particularly careful to check the surface flatness of the assembly, and avoid welding.
  • The structure and the carriage, as well as the point of fitting wheels and castors, must have a suitable dimensions for carrying the required load.
  • Swivel castors should be mounted so that their axles are perpendicular to the ground.
  • Fixed castors must be mounted so that the wheel axle (rear or front) are aligned.
  • For use in environments which are humid or saline, or with exposure to outdoor weather conditions or caustic chemicals, specific products should be requested.
  • The selection of the wheels and castors to be used at temperature of less than +10oC or greater than +30oC should be carefully examined.
  • Immediately replace wheels that show early wear or deformation under a load.

In order to correctly select the most suitable product, all the elements which can influence that choice should be examined beforehand, including: load, temperature, speed, working environment, etc.

The user should be especially careful not to use the product in the following ways:

  • With a load greater than the capacity indicated.
  • On non-suitable floor surfaces.
  • At temperatures which are to high or too low.
  • In the presence of caustic chemicals.
  • With exposure to violent impacts or stress.
  • At a speed of greater than 6km/h.
  • With any modification not previously approved by the manufacturer.
  • By combining product components not product by the same manufacture.

Wheels and Other Products

Description:

The type of flooring and floor conditions influence rolling, performance and life of the wheels and castors. The reaction provoked by contact between the floor and the rolling tread, transmitted to the carriage and thus to the load depends on the following. Type of floor surface the presence of obstacles, Holes or tracks. Type of rolling tread and the diameter of the wheel. Which all need to be taken into account when making the correct wheel selection for the application?
